feelin like a rebel

8:48 am this morning a subway rolls up after 15 mins {that is pretty long for rush hour} and i need to be to work at 9am and of course the subway is jam packed - i have no choice but to shove myself in. unfortunately, no one on the train wanted to move and let me. one lady sassed me and said "sorry sista i have back pains and i don't want anyone smashing my purse." i replied "they do it in tokyo!" i wiggled and got right in barely fitting inside the closing doors. today sucked because i had to bring two bags, one had to go on top of my head, and my purse got smashed- bye bye to my grapes, hard boiled eggs, and raspberries i packed for lunch. i did feel bad for the little asian lady who fit perfectly under my arm pit {don't worry i wear d.o.}.

anywhoo- i felt a little rebellious this morning shoving into a completely packed train and announcing to the whole car "they do it in toyko" you know you look funny when you pull up to the next stop and people pull out their phones to grab a picture of the girl with a bag on her head smashed against the glass door {so disgusting} on the subway. mondays...

so feeling rebellious and all reminded me of the awesome rebel/punk furniture by jimmie martin ltd - this british company knows how to give their pieces some funk! i don't think i could ever decide on just one of their pieces...i want a lot of them! they have amazing stuff- but i don't think you could have multiples of their stuff in one space...my opinion.

check out my wants...

how adorable is this recipe chair?

i think these would make perfect bedside tables.

multi colored frame

this is one fierce bed!

this would make a great wall covering-

i have a thing for colored shelves

love the spray paint, details, and the coloring in this piece

yes

i love their stuff!! looove and want! go jimmie martin!

a little color brightens a rainy day

this bedroom looks heavenly, i'm not enjoying the bedspread but i love the walls, the paint detail, and the splash of yellow!
spruce up any old table like this one here. i want to! give me paint, an old table, glass, and a wall-covering!

funky modern wallpaper with an old wooden cabinet- the two go great together!

hello pop of blue! you look fabulous. i love how they treated the window and wood working in this room. any color would work- it's genius.

these multi colored painted wood floors look great, especially with the white walls.

don't love the pattern but i love the concept...love love love!

i want to be a cool hip old lady who calls to check up on her grand babies from this chair.

i don't really care for this room...but what i love is the color of the walls (bright and happy) and the painting detail at the top - looks like someone didn't use painters tape and i like it!

the sofa is killer! i love the print- normally i am a fan a plain solid sofas but this pattern works perfectly on this sofa- plus i'm loving the red retro cabinets.

this room is a good example of a colorful home  with white walls- it's all about how you make it pop, the red chair, art, green books, etc.

i am really enjoying these tiny stripes... normally when i see black and white {the two go great with everything} striped walls they seem to be pretty thick,  which i also like...but what i really enjoy about this room is the random patch of wallpaper. that paper wouldn't be my first choice but i think it's a great idea and really gives the room some funk.

it's one of those ugly rainy days here in new york... i needed a little color and funk to brighten the day, so i thought i would share with you a few images that gave me some inspiration.

meeting marcel

there are some designers i dream about meeting and i met one of them this weekend ...marcel freaking wanders!!!  {thank you icff} the best part about meeting marcel - he was extremely nice and approachable!

listening to marcel speak at icff, good thing i brought my note book.

sadly this man's head distracted me...but only for a second.

i had to go say hello after his talk!

remember my marcel + mac post? mac has never looked so good

heard of moooi? marcel is the art director and co-owner of the amazing dutch company.  moooi does the coolest stuff ever! i dream of owning the horse lamp... one day.

fiona uk lighting designer

i'd like to introduce you to my new fabulous friend fiona (3 f's)...i met her my first day at icff - her beaming gold lights grabbed my attention right away! a very simple black booth showcasing her glammy gold custom lights was the perfect way to display her magical creations. "fiona gall is the artist-designer-creator of this alchemy, uses wire, tubing and sheet metals with reused glass and sparkling vintage diamante pieces, to create opulent chandeliers." she is the genius behind emerald faerie. i am super happy i met fiona, i love what she was showing at icff, very sexy, glam, edgy lighting. perfect for any rock star or glam queen!

fiona sitting at her booth

she puts a lot of detail into her work

this one is my favorite

i can see lady gaga liking these

my favorite picture i took of her detail... i love how she places the jewels and chains inside plastic tubes

fiona made this...shoulder pad thinggy ma bob-wear that into a party and all eyes on you!

i met fiona at icff and ran into her at a party the following evening, we then spent one fun random night in the city at different icff parties - my favorite part of the night was running around the standard hotel with her. such a random but great night! it's hard not to love anyone with a british accent - but fiona is really one awesome creative bunny who has an eye for all things cool! check out her outfit?? she wears that jumpsuit while creating beauty.

fiona next time i'm in london i'm coming to visit you and your shop...and maybe one day i can order one of your pieces! thanks for the inspiration!

o&g studio... an icff discovery

o&g studio was a company i had never heard of before icff. i was happy to discover scandinavian..ish traditional with a twist chairs! i love that they come in funky colors like neons, metallics, or you can have any custom color you'd like! they were introducing their new low back chairs which i think would be gorgeous around a dining table. i like the what these designers from rhode island are doing...i want to use one of these in a project semi soon!!

it's almost that time of year...sytycd time!

i am a lover of all things "so you think you can dance" watch some of my favorite dances.
{i have plenty but here are a few}

now it's her turn...meet ella

while walking around in the spain section at icff it was really hard not to notice the bubble gum pink foosball table at the rs-barcelona booth! i was grinning from ear to ear...here is why - this past summer at my family reunion we really got into foosball. we had competitive tournaments with teams and brackets. me and my two sisters were on a team, we called ourselves "team females" (we were actually pretty good, showed the boys a thing or two) so when i saw the all girl pink foosball table at the show i kept thinking, how perfect is this?! why haven't i seen this before? it's always the same little boy players on the table. now there is ella, she has the exact porportions as her male partner except she has curves... way to go rs-barcelona. thanks for bringing in some sass to the game. a big shout out to maria carrasco {from rs-barcelona} thanks for being so kind!

they call her ella...

it's so pretty- i want to play!

me and my family playing our foosball tournaments. girls won!

i bet she wants this table more than i do...
