hotel lust: take me to the wanderlust... please!

i just got back from a trip to paradise {dominican republic}.  i went with my handsome hubby, his cousin and his cousin's wife jess.  after a fun trip together we started to discuss where to go next.  jess was raised in singapore and has been wanting to take us there...and i want to fly singapore air & stay at the wanderlust hotel...so bad!  so yes, lets add singapore to the list {sucks that'd all be so $$}!

this hotel is bad @$$- neon lights, monochromatic rooms, industrial glam - the perfect mix for a chic hotel!  it's a little off the wall and that's what gives it its coolness!  the lobby and rooms were all designed by different firms, studios asylum, phunk studio and fFurious, together with architect firm dp architects...so it's a cluster of amazing design - there are 29 rooms and each one is different.

they have monochromatic rooms...how can i not be obsessed?!!  look and fall in love...

[wän-dər-ˌləst] i love you - one day we shall meet! till then xoxo

interior color inspiration through couture

couture is always inspiring...to me high end fashion is extremely creative. i love the clothes,  make up, hair, styling, colors, photography. everything about it is so artistic! i love looking through all the pretty images on larissa belkis's blog for inspiring fashion - but - when i see the high end editorial shots, not only do i see art but i see color inspirations for interiors!

i'll explain...

images that feed my design appetite

sometimes i just need a little inspiration to get my day going...i am always on the hunt to be inspired! i usually turn to magazines like belle, living etc. & bolig to help suppress my design addiction.

such a cute set up...anything pops with that colored wall!
i actually really dig wall murals...and i think one of the great outdoors like the one above would be perfect for a city apartment. i'd like one of my utah mountains! living etc.
i like the touches of orange...

hoop skirt lights at a-frame

right before i left the city of angels my brother from another mother a.k.a. brother-in-law took me to roy choi's a-frame restaurant. deee lish! i spent most of my meal obsessing over my hawaiian style furikake blazin’j's kettle corn, with warm butter, chives & spices - yum!!

the moment i walked into the joint i was loving all the big and small design details...but...my absolute favorite part of the place was the hoop skirt light fixtures above the patio! whoever in their crazy creative brain thought of taking hoop skirts and turning them into light fixtures is brilliant...knibb design! i was there at night so seeing these large white flowing lights was a beautiful sight to see.

imagine that movement in a light fixture...lovely! {image *bigskystudio}

the scale is just right

i want one so... bad! it almost seems like it's something i could make on my own...that gives it extra brownie points. i'm in love...with these lights!!

mtv movie awards part deux

it's almost been 3 weeks since my last post...whooops! i blame it on crazy days and being out of the country. i thought i should do a quick post of the the 2011 mtv movie awards...

here are a few of the pictures i took of the night...

i didn't end up liking the other dress options i posted, so i went with this shiny gold and black dress i found.

i was extremely excited to meet nick swardson, i have loooved him since his reno 911 days as 'terry'.

miss emma watson from 'harry potter' doesn't seem very nice...

hottie kellan lutz from 'twilight'

lil' romeo anyone?

but...one of the best parts of the whole show...the set! i loved it!! did you watch? it was like some crazy fantasy world... mtv production designer leroy bennett {check him out} turned the gibson amphitheater in universal city, california into a crazy fantasty world with over sized hanging jewels, caves, butterflies, and a plethora of led lights.

i loved commercial breaks because i got to stare at all the little details! i don't think my pictures do it justice, but trust me it was a bomb set! great job leroy!

                                            executive producer, mark burnett said:

"with the twilight saga: eclipse and harry potter and the deathly hallows, part 1 leading the nominee pack, the feel of this show also reflects those fantastical worlds that are ruled by wizards, werewolves and vampires. I think there's been a lot of movies in the last few years that are very fantasy-driven, and tim burton has also been a major inspiration for the stage design." -source.

thanks again to my bro in law for inviting me! xoxo reegs!
