what i love right now: spray painting the old chandelier (diy)

spray painting has to be one of my favorite tricks when i'm working on DIY projects!

right now i'm loving the transformed look of the old wood chandelier to the new spiced up green chandelier! makes me want to run to a thrift store/estate sale to find my own fixture to re-do!!

my projects with color duct tape

i love working with colored duct tape, when i'm working on a tight budget it is my go to cheap trick!!

i also really love the pop of color it brings into a space.

check out two of my projects below where i've used some colored tape...

this image here is from my apartment. i found three fugly looking brown bamboo sticks

in my old building's trash (shocker, i know) i loved them for their shape BUT hated them for their color.

so i brought them home and covered them with hot pink tape! it gives my space a splash of color and you can never go wrong with that!

when i was designing this chelsea apartment the budget was tight which

meant we didn't have money left over to get yellow fabric cord...so i covered the

white cheap cord with yellow duct tape! wa-la we got the same yellow look for half the price we would of spent on the fabric cord. 

try using some colored tape in your own space,

you'll be surprised at what you can cover up!

DIY: a cross stitch headboard

when i first moved into my apartment i knew i wanted a statement piece for a headboard...

i also knew i didn't want to spend much money on it either.

so i walked around home depot until i came up with an idea!

i soon found myself in the pegboard section, after noticing all the little holes i decided i wanted

to make a cross stitch headboard!

i walked around and found some neon hot pink mason string then picked up some cans of gold/bronze 

spray paint.

i purchased everything for under $25!!

brought all my materials home and this is what i came up with!

grab some pegboard and make your own cross stitch headboard!!

diy decor {video: a trashed frame}

on friday i found a homeless trashed frame on the street. i picked her up and brought her home and gave her some much needed color!!

diy headboard

i've been up to a lot of do it yourself projects lately and one of them was making a decorative headboard. i grabbed three items from home depot (pegboard, spray paint and pink string) - watched a little x factor to keep me busy - and now i sleep in front of a one of a kind piece! spent around $20 for it and i'm quite happy with the way it turned out!

pegboard and mason string are my new amigos... i've always loved spray paint!
