what i love right now: the thought of a dining room!

i feel pretty blessed to have found such a cute studio apartment.
it's our cozy ity bity home and for the price i can't complain all that much!
lately there is one thing i would like to vent about...i dislike being dining room-less!
anytime the hubs and i have anyone over or just want to eat dinner at a table this is what has to go down...
1. everything has to be moved from our desk.
2. then the desk gets moved over to the living space and we open it up into a table.
3. we go around and gather all the chairs.
doesn't sound all that bad but it is on the annoying side.

long story short this girl just wants a dining room!!
one day i know i'll have one and it will be extra special.
for now i just dream about what it would look like.

i'm really loving this all white scheme i think what has me lusting

over this space is the fantastic hanging pendant!! seems very homey!

what i love right now: five fantastic fixtures

a fabulous light does wonders to a space especially when it's statement piece.
i'm going to be working on a space where the budget is pretty small so i'm thinking of
ways to revamp an old fixture. right now i'm finding major inspiration from these fantastic
fixtures i just had to share!

these three copper pendants are insanely awesome!

i would be such a happy designer to use one of these in a project...

spray painting has to be one of my favorite tricks when i'm working on DIY projects!

right now i'm loving the transformed look of the old wood chandelier to the new spiced up green chandelier! makes me want to run to a thrift store/estate sale to find my own fixture to re-do!!

i have olympic fever!!!!

i love love love the olympics...it's like christmas for me,
i love supporting and cheering for team USA. i feel so much pride for
my country and love watching our athletes succeed!
i wish i was watching the olympics live in london...i would have an american flag
painted on my face all day everyday.

my favorite night so far was tuesday evening ( i have been trying to avoid reading online the results
before they air on tv, i don't want anything ruined for me.)
watching the fab five and the men's swimming all win gold was epic!
i was so happy to watch our women's gymnastic team win the gold medal! first time since 96'
i still can't believe these five girls won a gold medal at age 16!!
they are indeed the fab five...

how perfect was mckayla maroney's vault?! i still can't get over it.

my favorite part was her huge grin at the end because she knew she killed it!!

(how in the heck did she not get a perfect score??)

what i love right now: guilherme torres part II

i literally always love what brazilian designer guilherme torres does. he is one of my favorite designers on this planet!  he is a big think outside the boxer- and his work doesn't look like all the others.
he is a man of uncommon spaces and mixes pieces so well.  i. love. him.
right now i am loving the project that is featured on his mister black section on his website.
i am always so inspired by him... dream of meeting him!  if i ever go to brazil it's one thing i have to do!

what i love right now: westbury estate and gardens

yesterday i had planned to be in chicago to attend neocon...

since i was flying standby to chi-town i was a little nervous i wouldn't make my flight back to new york.

so i got cold feet and decided to skip neocon and instead spend the day with my hubby and sister.

our good friend's are out of town and let us borrow their car, as i was dropping him off at the airport he suggested we take the car to the beach. since yesterday's weather was wet and misty and not the type of weather you'd prefer for the beach we decided we'd venture off into long island to check out some of the gold coast mansions! surprisingly the westbury estate is only a short trip from home, around 30 minutes!!

we met up with another friend and her daughter and hit the road.

(how amazing is this mansion?? feels so european!)

there is something so charming about east coast towns! i love the lush greenery, winding roads and old homes that line the streets.

in old westbury the homes are at a larger scale!!

we arrived at the property and drove through the most amazing tree lined road that led to this grand red brick estate. once we got their we found out we wouldn't be able to tour the inside of the home because the show royal pains was filming. since it was lightly raining and the mansion was closed for tours it meant besides the filming crew, we were pretty much the only people on the grounds.

this place was a-may-zing!!!!!

the gardens went on and on and on....we followed the paths and kept discovering one magical place after the other. it was unbelievable. it reminded me of the movies pride and prejudice, secret garden and it also reminded me of monet's gardens in giverny.

i am loving the westerbury estate & gardens right now!

some facts about the property...

 we were completely smitten by this place.

we kept thinking, who knew this place was so close to home? also, how amazing it would have been to attend parties at this place back when it was first built! it felt incredible to have so much grass and blooming flowers surrounding us, plus fresh air is always amazing. 

the misty rain made everything feel extra mysterious and magical.

we went a little picture crazy...

this property is a pretty popular place for movies and t.v.

i want to go back and check out this inside of the mansion...

i loved spending the afternoon getting lost in the beautiful gardens, i also loved having my friend's little 21 month year old with us. she had all the space in the world to run and play! 

if you live in new york you need to make a visit to this gorgeous property!!!
